Gardasil - Friend or Foe? Read this story before you decide.

My name is KarlyAnn! I am one of thousands of girls who have fallen as a victim to the vaccination: Gardasil. This, as well as any other drug has adverse side effects, only with a much more devastating outcome. The symptoms are basically any neurological problems you can think of! Now, the reason for this vaccine is to help prevent Girls from getting Cervical Cancer; which, actually has several strands- and Gardasil can only prevent one of them, the one that is caused by an STD known as HPV (the Human Papiloma Virus). If I would have known this, I would have had no chance of getting cancer- I’m not sexually active! Along with many girls, my doctor strongly suggested I get it. So I did! Bad idea! I am now suffering the effects along with thousands of others in my same position. Unfortunately, some have already passed away. I wouldn’t have ever thought my sickness would have originated from a series of shots, but a friend, Tracey, saw me my flaring symptoms and talked to us about how her best friend’s niece had died from similar symptoms. She was one of the many victims who have passed away from the Gardasil vaccination.

Weight Loss "Finding YOUR Ideal Weight!"

" I am in my early 70's and I have battled my weight my whole adult life. I have been on and off the diet roller coaster so many times it had lost it's thrill.  I think I got to where I sabotaged my latest diet before I even got started. The mind is a powerful thing. For someone like me hearing the words, "be patient, add more exercise, slow weight loss is better, control what you eat, find what works for you", made me cringe like nails on a chalkboard and I didn't want to hear it! I wanted the quick and painless way to loose weight, after all it seems to work for others. I didn't want to be super thin and fit into societies idea of healthy, I wanted to find my healthy, ideal weight that I could maintain. My story isn't unlike many you have probably heard, but telling it helps me to keep my goal and focus. My hope is it will inspire others in finding their ideal weight.

First off I have to let you know that all of the advice I didn't want to hear and follow was exactly what has helped me the most. Patience is a huge key to loosing weight, especially since slow weight loss is ideal, and controlling what I eat IS what works best for me. I have found a few things that have helped me the very most along the way. Turns out exercise is important, dang it! However for me at my age exercise is just being a little more active, I don't hit the gym but I do walk more. I found out that along with portion control eating whole grains, more vegetables and fruit were my make it or break it. By adding a molyunsaturated fat, such as nuts, olive oil, avocado and dark chocolate to name a few, with each meal helps me stay fuller longer which helps me control my portions. Of course I have cut out white flour, sugar and sugar substitutes as much as possible and switched from white potatoes to sweet potatoes. One other life saver which has helped in curbing my appetite and satisfy my sweet tooth is finding the protein shake I drink every day. SLIM SMART from Grandma's Herbs is the best I have found, and believe me I have lots of dusty containers of other brands on my shelf. If it doesn't taste good and have a smooth texture I won't drink it, period. I don't care how good it's supposed to be for me. That is why I was so excited to find SLIM SMART. Along with the great flavor and texture it is one of the most nutritious meal replacements I have found. In fact it was recommended to me by a dietitian. As you can see by my two pictures in my not so flattering mu mu, I have lost at least 50 pounds. It has taken me a year, but at 4'10" I think that is quite a feat! But most importantly is how I feel and the attitude I have at being at my healthy ideal weight. I am finally in control and loving how I feel. My husband even bought me some of those "fancy pocket jeans" as he calls them for Christmas. Who would have thought I would ever fit into those, I love it! I am also loving that I no longer let my weight control me, but finally after all these years, I am in control of my weight!!"

Fibromyalgia "Dealing With It"

"It seems like a lot of unexplained illnesses fall under the "Fibromyalgia" blanket. Even some doctors still scratch their heads about it. When I started to have constant pain in my hips and knees, my doctor told me I had Tendinitis. I was instructed to limit my activity for 3 months and give my body a chance to heal. Well for anyone who has fibromyalgia I'm sure you are going to be able to relate to the consequences I suffered for following that advice! You can also probably relate to the melt down I had when I fell in the shower because I was so sore from inactivity. Yep, it got to the point I thought I was going to end up in a wheelchair! I was barely 40, so what the heck! My husband started searching all of my symptoms and found I had every one that goes along with fibromyalgia. Turns out, as many of you know, that the worse thing I could have done is become inactive. Go figure right! I found out quickly that even though it hurt to exercise, even in moderation, it slowly helped to be able to deal with it. I also have to watch what I eat, which I hate. Mainly sugar and caffeine and white flour, ya know all the good stuff, affect my symptoms.

Since I personally am not a prescription fan I also found that there are several supplements that greatly help. Grandma's Herbs has a package with 6 products that address several of the areas that problematic for those who suffer from fibromyalgia. Since it seems to be an auto-immune system disorder, it stands to reason to boost your immune system. Grandma's Herbs Immune Enhancer and Defense System help with that. Fibromyalgia also seems to effect the nerve endings, so I take Grandma's Herbs Nervine and B-AllCalm formula. A great and easy to assimilate herbal calcium has also been great in soothing, feeding and strengthening my nerves. So I use Grandma's Herbal Calcium formula, as well as Daily Greens to help with my vitamins and minerals intake. And finally to help with the pain, I take Grandma's Herbs Pain-aid. For me staying all natural has given me the control over my symptoms that I need. I have my good days and my bad days, but I am able to deal with it. I know so many people suffering, and they often ask me how I "deal with it". For me the answer is having the patience with myself and my limits, faith in my body to have the strength to heal, and the knowledge that I have some input in controlling my symptoms. Oh and I am sure my stubborn attitude also plays into this somewhere!

I hope my story and information can be a help to others. I know fibromyalgia, like many health issues, will affect different people in different ways and severity.  How we deal with any health issue is such a personal choice. As for me, I am now almost 50 and I still refuse to loose control!

Cholesterol "The Silent Killer"

"I am an active person, one who regards himself as healthy, fit and in the prime of life at 40. I ride my bike, work out and I eat right, I even do a triathlon here and there. So imagine my surprise finding out, while getting a physical for my insurance, that at age 40 I had what the doctor called a "high risk cholesterol level". I was shocked and went directly for a second test because I was sure he was wrong. When I finally came to grips with the fact that I did indeed have a cholesterol issue, I decided to take better control of my diet and health.

I believe in the natural health approach, so I took to studying how to lower my cholesterol naturally. First, I cut out all meats period! For 6 weeks I ate mainly fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Through my research I found the most effective supplements to take as well. I started taking Niacin, Lecithin and Grandma's Herbs Cholesterol formula. I also continued to stay active. After 6 weeks I slowly introduced meats back into my diet, but in moderation. After 8 weeks I had my cholesterol re-checked. I was relieved to be told I had lowered my cholesterol back to a "normal level".  I continue to keep a close watch on my cholesterol, as well as take the necessary supplements needed to keep it at a healthy level. I am grateful there are alternatives available to help take control of a serious issue naturally."
